    Blue Mountains City Council has developed traffic and parking plans for Warrimoo, Lapstone and Knapsack Ovals to increase car parking spaces and improve public safety at the busy sports precincts.

    The concept plans have also been designed to improve parking amenity on local roads, reduce long term maintenance from the sealing of unsealed car parks and prevent the impact on native vegetation caused by parking on informal car parking areas.

    Council is inviting community feedback on the draft traffic and parking plans, which are on public exhibition from Monday 1 – Monday 29 August. SUbmissions close 12 September 2016.

Your answers will help us plan services and facilities for children and young people across the Blue Mountains.

    The purpose of draft Amendment 1 to Blue Mountains Local Environmental Plan 2015 (LEP 2015) is to transfer land that has been deferred from LEP 2015. The finalisation of Amendment 1 will result in some of the land with the “Deferred” status being incorporated into LEP 2015.

    Every four years the Cultural Centre Exhibitions Policy is required to be reviewed.

    This revised policy now includes specific reference to the various exhibition program streams of the City Art Gallery and the exhibition selection process at the Cultural Centre’s sister facility, Braemar Gallery.

    The Policy provides a clear direction for the selection of exhibition programs and ensures a transparent selection process is adhered to, with the intention of meeting the Cultural Centre’s mission and vision to be a significant display space within the Australian museum and gallery industry.

    The impact of tourist bus parking within the Leura Village precinct has increasingly become a cause for community and Council concern.

    Council has prepared a draft Strategy which sets out a number of options for a long term solution to the tourist bus parking in Leura in order to address the need for coach parking to support visitor use of Leura Village, whilst limiting the impact on the character and amenity, and commercial viability of the various businesses within the village.

    The Draft Blackheath Village Centre Public Domain Masterplan is now on Public Exhibition until Monday 2 May 2016 with Submissions received until 16 May 2016.

    The Draft Masterplan has focused on the Public Domain – streets, footpaths and Council owned land - of the village centre from Hat Hill Road in the north to just south of the Sutton Place carpark, and west from the industrial zoned land in Railway Parade to Wentworth Street.

    This area contains the core village centre where retail and commercial services are concentrated – a mix of public and private lands, transport corridors, open/recreational space and some residential areas.

    Children need to play in a range of ways to ensure they meet their developmental milestones and become balanced adults. As a full range of play opportunities cannot be provided in all parks, Council is writing a Play strategy. This will guide the provision of play opportunities in the Mountains over the next 10 years.
