Over the past 6 months, Council has been exploring the possibility of a Junior Skate facility at Melrose Park, North Katoomba. A draft design has been developed and is now on public exhibition for comment

This proposal has arisen from an identified need for a family friendly skate/ wheels facility in the Katoomba area that is suitable for young and learner riders of scooters, bikes, skateboards and the like. Melrose Park has been selected because it is visible, accessible, provides good amenity and has features for other members of the family.

The decision making process for providing a junior skate facility, and selecting Melrose Park can be reviewed in previous Council reports in the library on this web page. See the right hand column of this page.

The current skate facility at Goldsmith Place will continue to provide for the needs of older experienced skaters, subject to some proposed modifications.

Council wants to know your views on this proposal. Your ideas and opinions are welcome and encouraged. You may put your ideas forward in the following ways

Public Information Session

As part of this exhibition, Council will hold a public information session, at Melrose Park on the afternoon of Thursday 22 March 2012, from 4 – 7pm. This information session will provide an opportunity for members of the public to review the plans, ask questions, and provide comments and feedback on the proposed designs. You are welcome to attend.
