Creating Shared Paths
WENTWORTH FALLS SHARED PATH UPDATE - THURSDAY 23 JUNE 2022
Some questions have been received about the four-meter (approximately) section of the footpath near Blaxland Road that has been laid with asphalt rather than concrete.
Asphalt has been used for this section of the path to protect the roots of the large, significant avenue tree that sits within the footprint of the extended footpath. To prevent damage to the tree and its roots, Council’s tree team advised that porous pavement was the most appropriate material to be used in this location.
Works to complete the shared path continue with the following items scheduled over the next two to three weeks:
- Section of footpath between Hill Street and Flora Street - This asphalting work is being completed today, Thursday 23 June.
- Balustrades on the two remaining culverts to the west of the Lake
- Backfilling of both sides of the new footpath
- Grass seeding of both sides of the footpath, as well as any lawn remediation areas
- Line marking - The entire footpath from the top of Sinclair crescent near Blaxland Road, all the way to Flora Street will have a shared path line marking applied. This is currently scheduled for the week commencing Monday 11 July.
- Replacement of signage - The signage, along Sinclair Crescent, that was temporarily removed to construct the new footpath, will be re-installed in the coming weeks.
Thank you for your patience as this work is undertaken.
LAWSON SHARED PATH UPDATE - MONDAY 20 JUNE 2022
Work on the new shared pathway in Lawson is now underway and will take approximately four weeks to complete (heavily dependent on weather).
The path will run:
- From the intersection of New and Adelaide Streets to the corner of Wilson Street
- From that intersection of Wilson and Adelaide Streets, to Cleveland Street
- From 16 Cleveland Street to 20 Cleveland Street.
- From the intersection of Cleveland and Wilson Streets to Ferris Lane.
Improving connections and access benefits everyone and particularly helps those in our community living with disability.
Enhancing these routes promotes time spent outdoors in our beautiful natural environment. While works take place, Council will take measures to minimise disruption to residents. Thank you for your understanding while these works are completed.
