Active Transport Links - Hawkesbury Road
The Blue Mountains Active Transport Links Program aims to improve our streets for everyone, with safe and sustainable links between key destinations and towns across the Blue Mountains.
About this project
Council is working on plans for a new 4.5km pathway on Hawkesbury Road, between White Cross Road, Winmalee and Hawkesbury Lookout in Hawkesbury Heights to improve safety and access for walkers and riders. The project is identified as a priority under Council's Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plan (PAMP) and the Blue Mountains Bike Plan 2020.

Project status
Council has released the detailed designs for the proposed pathway route. The designs were created following an extensive design process involving safety auditing with transport authorities, and community consultation carried out in January-February 2025, with the feedback received being used to shape the designs.
Community members may review the designs and provide feedback before 9am, Monday 15 September.
Due to the significant amount of consultation required, it is anticipated that this project will be delivered in sections and community members and affected stakeholders will be consulted prior to building commencing.
Interested community members are encouraged to follow this project (via the right side of this page) to learn about key milestones and any future consultation opportunities.
