Update 15 December 2022: Pine trees to be removed at Jackson Park
The central pine tree (pinus radiata) in Jackson Park will soon be removed, along with the pine tree in front of the old toilet block location.
The central pine is required to be removed so that the swing set can be relocated closer to the existing play equipment and play area. The swing set must be relocated to permit the construction of a DDA compliant path to the new accessible toilet from the Corridor of Oaks (north side). The pine in front of the toilet block is required to be removed to make way for the new accessible path and new accessible toilet block.

Corridor of Oaks and Jackson Park upgrade - old toilet block removal
The first stage of the upgrades to enhance connections and accessibility throughout the Corridor of Oaks and Jackson Park, Faulconbridge, are set to get underway with the removal of the old toilet block at Jackson Park.
Removal of the old toilets will take place on Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 of December.
Once the toilet block is removed, the space will be prepared for the installation of the new toilet facilities, which should be completed by March 2023 (weather permitting).
This does mean that the Corridor of Oaks and Jackson Park will be without toilet facilities over the Christmas and New Year holiday period.
The old toilet block is being removed as the first part of the upgrade work as it makes the best use of Council’s resources. Demolishing the old toilet needs to be coordinated within a schedule of other works and project timeframes.
Following the removal of the toilet, the other upgrade work will start to take place, including:
• An accessible boardwalk between the Corridor of Oaks ‘Prime Minister Trees’, which will help the resilience of the oak trees by limiting foot traffic around the trees
• Formalised accessible car parking, where permissible
• Accessible paths linking the oaks, picnic facilities and the accessible toilet
The first stage of the upgrade, funded by the NSW Public Spaces Legacy Program, enacts recommendations from a previous Council Conservation Management Plan.
