Wentworth Falls Lake Precinct upgrade

30 October 2025

Stage 1 of the Sinclair Crescent carpark is now open.

The new, sealed carpark area provides 32 spaces, including two accessible parking spots. Thanks to the community for your patience while the work has been taking place.

Stage 2 is currently being constructed, due for completion by the end of the year/early next year, depending on the weather. This will provide another 19 parking bays.

Sinclair Crescent Carpark Upgrade update

14 October 2025

From Tuesday 14 October until Wednesday 26 November the westbound lane of Sinclair Crescent will be closed to allow work to take place close to the edge of the road. The area of closure is shown on the map below.

Temporary traffic lights will be positioned at both the eastern and western approaches to the work area to reduce disruption for motorists and allow traffic from both directions to get through the site. Please note that following community feedback during Stage 1 of the carpark upgrade, the traffic light timings have been carefully considered to reduce wait times as much as possible. Council’s contractor for the works will also continuously monitor the traffic controls and adjust if required.

Please note that the carpark works are highly weather dependent and the lane closure dates may need to be adjusted subject to weather and work progress.

Stage 1 of the carpark is anticipated to be completed by 30 October. Once complete, it will be opened for the community.

Thank you to the community for your patience as these upgrade works are undertaken.

You can find out more about the project below, in the News Feed at the bottom of the page and in the Document Library to the right of the page.

The Wentworth Falls Lake Precinct upgrade.

Council has been working to carefully enhance the upgrade plans for Wentworth Falls Lake, in order to deliver an expanded package of works that best support the community’s vision for this iconic recreational precinct:

  • Dam upgrades: upgrade of the spillways, upstream dam wall and weir infrastructure to improve control of water levels for fire protection and community resilience. An upgraded boat ramp, landscaping and staging area for emergency vehicles will also be delivered.
  • Accessible walkway and viewing platform: a new pedestrian bridge and viewing platform, and improvements to how visitors access the northern edge of the lake to Waratah Road.
  • Precinct walk: a walk around the lake and a link to Waratah Road.
  • Carparks: new carparks on Sinclair Crescent and Waratah Road.
  • Plus upgraded precinct seating, shelters and BBQ facilities.

Council is now positioned to deliver the best outcome for the community through a broad package of upgrades that not only enhance how the lake and its surroundings can be experienced, but provide increased protections from future flood and fire events.

Thanks for taking the time to complete the survey about the replacement play space for Wentworth Falls Lake.

Both options have a nature based style with many adventurous and inclusive elements. We would like to know which option you prefer.

There is also some scope for mix and match on the feature pieces.

The final design will take into account community preferences as well as being within the capacity of the allocated funding.

Please review Option 1, Option 2 and the Comparison Table before completing the survey.

    Closing: 5pm on SUNDAY 17 January 2021

We have already had some great input into the Wentworth Falls Lake Masterplan earlier this year.

We have drafted an early stage preliminary version of this document, which you can view here. You may find the Site Analysis and Design Strategies documents useful reading as well.

*Please view the preliminary Masterplan before completing this survey*

As we are still working on the Plan of Management and designs for the accessible walkway, we will speak to you later in the year about that.

There are currently two playgrounds at Wentworth Falls Lake - the junior pirate ship playground closer to the dam wall and the older children’s playground near the new toilets.

Funding has been found through the ‘Everyone Can Play’ grant to assist Council in upgrading the older children’s playground.

What we would like to know, is what type of new playground you think would fit in well at Wentworth Falls Lake.

Further input will be sought as we progress the design.

This survey closes on Sunday 12 July.
