About this project
This project will deliver public domain upgrades in and around the Station Street pedestrian mall to create a new vibrant and accessible, social space in the heart of Blaxland town centre.
Proposed improvements include:
Paving and pedestrian accessibility upgrades
Spaces for social interaction and community events
Improved lighting, seating and areas for outdoor dining
Tree plantings, landscaping and water-sensitive design
Improved accessible parking near Station Street Mall
Public art and improved signage and wayfinding
Project status
With the project scope, including initial topographic surveying and concept designs, completed, Council is now undertaking a comprehensive planning and design process in preparation for construction, which is anticipated to begin in late 2025.
The upgrade of the Station Street Mall is identified as a key action in the Blaxland Masterplan. The masterplan was originally adopted in 2018 after significant community consultation. Further consultation with the community has occurred since that time and an updated version of the plan was endorsed in early 2024.
Additional community consultation was carried out in late 2024, during the planning and scoping phase of this upgrade project, with the responses received being used to inform the design and future evaluation of the project.
Council will be holding an information stall in the town centre on Saturday 12 April to discuss the planned upgrades and to share the designs with the community.
Community information stall Outrim Park, Blaxland (see map) 8.00am - 12.00pm, Saturday 12 April
