Youth Council is an exciting opportunity to be a voice for young people in the Blue Mountains.

Open to 20 members, Youth Council is a great opportunity to develop leadership skills, learn about the role of local government and advocacy, and gain a standout feature on your resume.

Youth Council meets each month to raise issues, participate in consultations and develop projects and initiatives to increase opportunities and improve services for young people.

The focus of each Youth Council is determined by its members each year – that means you get to set the agenda.

Over recent years, Youth Council has organised:

  • A podcast, interviewing local personalities
  • Youth events including youth music and film nights
  • Project Plant It – supporting children and young people to learn about and help regenerate native vegetation and habitat.
  • The Warrimoo Family Fun Day - a free event promoting connection and inclusivity and including a night-time screening of The Princess Bride, an all-abilities soccer game with the Blue Kangaroos, and old style games.
  • The creation of educational videos to support environmental protection
