Background:
This policy outlines why and how compliance is implemented and achieved by Blue Mountains City Council in accordance with its obligations as a local government authority.
As a government authority, Council has a responsibility to identify and comply with its obligations in accordance with legislation, regulations, industrial and organisational standards and guidelines, Ministerial directives, Council policies and procedures, principles of good governance, accepted ethical standards, risk management, community expectations and Council’s stated values.
Council is committed to implementing structures to monitor compliance and report and escalate non-compliance matters in a fair and just culture framework. This policy details how Council monitors and implements changes to obligations, sets criteria and processes for reporting internal compliance considerations, and seeks to monitor and improve Council’s internal compliance framework.
