The next stage of the Springwood Library redevelopment is about to begin.

The $2.62 million redesign will transform Springwood Library into a modern, light-filled building with full glazing to the south façade, excellent views, plus quiet study areas and a fully accessible lift.

As it will take library staff time to safely pack up items for storage and transport, the library is to close well in advance of construction starting.

The last day for the existing library at Springwood will be Saturday, 27 February 2021. From this time, library staff will begin to pack up the library that first opened its doors in 1974.

On Monday 15 March, Springwood Library will launch ‘Library in the Loft’, located upstairs at the Hub (Meeting Room 2), very close to the existing library. Library in the Loft’ will be open Monday to Friday 10am-1pm and 3pm-5pm. Library patrons will be able to:

  • Collect reserved items
  • Return items via return bins in rear carpark
  • Access WiFi and public computers (45 min limit)
  • Access photocopying, scanning and printing services.

From this date, Customer Service will be available at the Hub Box Office on Monday to Friday, 9am to 12noon.

The new Springwood Library will open once construction finishes in 2022.

The project will be funded under the Western Parkland City Liveability Program, which is part of the Western Sydney City Deal (WSCD). The WSCD is a 20 year-agreement between the Australian and NSW governments, and the eight local Councils of the Western Parkland City.
