    You can use this interactive website to comment on the Roads and Maritime Service’s (RMS) proposal for tree planting at Memory Park, Hazelbrook, as part of the Hazelbrook - Woodford upgrade of the Great Western Highway.

    The RMS, Council and the design consultants are interested in the community preference for the major exotic deciduous tree - a choice between the narrow Tulip Tree, and the Cypress Oak. Also of interest is the community preference for the landmark indigenous native tree - Blue Gum, Turpentine or Grey Gum.

    Please leave your comments in the Guestbook - note these are counted as informal submissons.

    All comments and submissons will be reviewed by Council but are the sole responsibility of the RMS.

    The RMS has selected these trees based on advice from their Design consultants and Council staff with the aim of:

    1. Partly screening, scaling down and softening of the pedestrian bridge, ramp and stairs;
    2. Restoring the heritage of Memory Park through its memorial trees;
    3. Land-marking the eastern edge of Hazelbrook village through significant tree planting; and
    4. Consolidating the indigenous planting theme on the eastern side of the village and between the two villages of Hazelbrook and Woodford.

    These trees have been carefully selected to be hardy AND functional as well as the correct scale for their location. A full list of selection criteria can be found in the Library.
