The Mount Victoria Memorial Park Playspace and Courts Upgrade Project is a community initiative aimed at enhancing the amenities of Mount Victoria Memorial Park. This project, funded by a $1 million grant from the Australian Government, seeks to promote inclusivity, health, and wellbeing for all residents.  

The project will involve upgrading the playspace and courts at Mount Victoria Memorial Park to better serve the community's needs. This includes adding accessible pathways, diverse play options, and nods to the area's rich history. The upgrade aims to create versatile spaces catering to various interests and activities for people of all ages.

Construction on the Courts is expected to commence in April 2025.   

Your feedback will play a pivotal role in the project's development. The information we obtained from the community consultation conducted in June 2024 has informed the draft designs that are now open for community consultation from 18 November 2024 to 18 December 2024. 

We are dedicated to ensuring that the final project reflects the desires and needs of local residents, and your input will guide our decisions every step of the way. 

Community engagement is vital because it ensures that the upgrade truly reflects the wants and needs of our community. By actively involving residents in the decision-making process, we can create a park that enriches the lives of current and future generations.  

The Mount Victoria Memorial Park Playspace and Courts Upgrade Project builds upon the success of previous endeavours in Mount Victoria, such as the Mount Victoria Village Recovery Package. These initiatives aim to revitalize various aspects of the area, promote local tourism, and support social and economic recovery.

The Mount Victoria Memorial Park Plan of Management commits to “providing and maintaining a safe and fit for purpose facility, play equipment and park infrastructure that encourages, promotes and facilitates recreational pursuits in the community”. This project is a direct result of the commitment in the Plan of Management to upgrade the “sports court, play equipment, car park including accessible parking and pathways.”
