Share your feedback between 8 August 2025 and 21 August 2025

We are excited to share with you the final design for the upgraded playspace at Mount Victoria Memorial Park.

Please see link (right) August 2025 Mount Victoria Playspace Final Design for full suite of images.

Community feedback has been central to shaping this design, and we would like to thank everyone who has participated in the consultation process so far.

We’ve listened carefully to every comment and piece of feedback received throughout the consultation process. All ideas have been thoughtfully considered.

While not every suggestion could be included, whether due to budget limits, safety requirements, or the scope and guidelines of the funding, we’ve worked hard to balance the needs of all park users and create a space that is welcoming, safe and enjoyable for as many people as possible.

While the design is largely complete, minor adjustments may still be made prior to construction if needed.

Read the design description and view the final playspace design below.

Construction on the court is expected to begin on 25 August 2025. During this time, the playspace will be a construction zone and temporarily closed to the public, though the existing swing set near the car park will remain accessible.

This project is funded through the Australian Government’s Priority Community Infrastructure Program.

If you need assistance viewing the designs, completing the survey, or sharing your feedback in a way that works for you, please contact Council on 4780 5000. Printed copies of the designs are also available on request.

Design statement

Of the two options presented for the Mount Victoria Park play space, Option 2 was preferred. Option 2 was the one without the tower, had more emphasis on climbing challenges and included the flying fox.

The final design includes:

  • Moduplay’s Champion Multi Play Unit, an active play circuit structure that integrates a flying fox with an exciting mix of sliding, climbing, balancing and upper body challenges encouraging coordination, strength building, and adventurous play.

  • Multiple embankment climbing activities and tube slide descent.

  • An Imaginate play shop front and sensory play panel

  • Play markings on the path to the play space

  • A carousel that can enjoyed by multiple people including those in wheelchairs,

  • A level lawn for picnics or bocce games

In response to community feedback, the following changes to the design have been made:

  • The picnic table was moved off the lawn and placed inside the playspace

  • Wheelchair access and more space to move around were added to the swings, picnic table and imagination play area

  • The banister slide on the embankment was replaced with a tube slide

  • The rockers were removed, and the carousel was designed to sit level with the ground to make it easier to access

  • The separate swing set near the car park was kept, in addition to the new swings in the playspace

  • If the budget allows, the existing bubbler will be replaced with a water refill station

  • Please note: The oak trees on the downhill slope are not being removed. They have been omitted from the design image for clarity, to allow the planned upgrades to be seen more easily.
