Why is Council considering a proposal for a Springwood to Valley Heights Link Road?

    The Council resolved to consider and investigate the proposal for a Springwood to Valley Heights Link Road in the interest of these possible outcomes:

    • Alleviating the traffic congestion experienced on Hawkesbury Road and Macquarie Road during peaks periods;
    • Improve the management of the Great Western Highway and the local road network;
    • Improve access on and off the Great Western Highway; and
    • Improve traffic safety as well as pedestrian and cyclist safety;

    Council will need to take into consideration the high cost of construction and maintenance of the link road and the increased congestion it may cause as the Great Western Highway and Peninsula Road intersection. As well as the impact the proposed link road may have on local businesses, property values, the environment and on residents living on the proposed alternate route.
