The Blue Mountains Active Transport Links Program aims to improve our streets, with safe and sustainable links between key destinations and towns across the Blue Mountains.

About this project

Council has secured funding to deliver a new pathway between the Great Western Highway and Lincolns Rock Reserve at Wentworth Falls.

The pathway was identified in the Lincolns Rock Locality Plan, adopted in May 2026, as a priority project to provide a clearer walking route to the reserve while supporting the long-term management of this environmentally and culturally sensitive area. The proposal is not intended to encourage increased visitation to the site.

Subject to community consultation, approvals and site conditions, construction is planned for completion by June 2027.

Council adopted the Lincolns Rock Locality Plan in response to increasing public safety, environmental, traffic and residential amenity impacts associated with growing visitation. The site will remain temporarily closed until 30 November 2026 while Council implements priority actions under the plan, including this pathway and additional traffic management and safety improvements in the precinct.

Project status - Community consultation open

Council is inviting the community to provide feedback on the early concept design for the proposed pathway.

The concept design shows the proposed pathway alignment, surface treatments and shared zone works. As this is an early concept, the design remains subject to community feedback, further technical assessment, approvals and review by Transport for NSW, and may be refined as the project progresses.

We're seeking feedback from residents, visitors and the wider community to help inform the next stage of design. We encourage you to share your local knowledge, including where people currently walk, any safety or access issues, and any opportunities or constraints Council should consider. The design process will also consider road conditions, drainage, vegetation, driveways, cultural heritage, environmental values and the needs of nearby residents.

How to participate

Community consultation is open until 9am, Monday 31 August 2026. View the concept plans and share your feedback using the form below to help shape the proposal.
