Consultation has concluded
Three (3) Explorer Memorials bronze busts, one each of Blaxland, Lawson and Wentworth, created by local sculptor, Terrance Plowright are proposed to be installed separately within the town centre of their namesake.
The project is an initiative of the Businesses Supporting the Bicentenary (BSB) and endorsed by Blue Mountains Lithgow Oberon Tourism (BMLOT) and the Bicentenary Crossing Committee (BCC). It is intended to provide a positive lasting legacy of the Bicentenary Crossing of the Blue Mountains by Europeans.
The memorials will comprise of a bronze bust (shown above), sandstone plinth, plaques and historic road pavers edging the base of each plinth. Each memorial will be 1.8metres high allowing the average height adult to view the Explorer eye to eye.
