Blue Mountains City Council presents the Corridor of Oaks and Jackson Park Draft Plan of Management (PoM) for community review and comment via submission.

PUBLIC EXHIBITION DATES

Submissions Open Wednesday 4th May 2022

Closes Wednesday 15th June 2022

Council is required to manage community land - which the Corridor of Oaks and Jackson Park are - in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993.

This requires a plan of management to be prepared that describes the current condition and use of the site, permits or prohibits activities and manages use including utilising leases, licences or other estates. As there is not a plan of management covering both sites in place, this plan is drafted to meet the legal requirements.

A primary tool of the Plan of Management is the assigning of land categories. Categories are selected from a specified list, each reflecting a different type of land use. The categories direct the types of land use and activities that are permitted within the area assigned that category.

This plan of management does not intend a change in the types of use at the Corridor of Oaks and Jackson Park. It formalises the existing uses and makes permissible the works in the master plan.

  • The bush will continue to be managed as bushland.
  • The SES building will continue to function as the SES building.
  • Jackson Park will continue to be managed as a neighbourhood park with a playspace; and
  • The Corridor of Oaks will continue to be parkland managed for both locals and tourists.

The heritage value of the site is recognised.

If you think that the type of uses should be changed, the plan of management process is the opportunity for this to be discussed.

The plan of management does not give direction to the management of the road, the footpaths or the level crossing. Issues related to these are addressed through a separate process.

This public exhibition period is opportunity for the community and interested parties to read the draft POM and supply comment via submission.
