Update 22 January 2025
Construction started on Buttenshaw Park Pump Track
The highly anticipated Buttenshaw Park Small Pump Track is moving forward, with construction started 22 January 2025.
Located within the Buttenshaw Park Youth Playspace in Springwood, the small pump track is specifically designed for younger riders, offering a safe and exciting environment for all skill levels.
While construction is underway, the small pump track area will be a designated construction zone, and public access will be restricted until the work is completed.
Once construction is finished, the community will be invited to celebrate the track’s opening at a Community Open Day. More details will be shared closer to the event.
Construction is expected to be complete by the end of April 2025, weather permitting.
The design for the much-anticipated Buttenshaw Small Pump Track has been finalised, and construction is set to begin January/February 2025.
The track, located within the Buttenshaw Youth Play Space in Springwood, is being completed as part of the Neighbourhood Parks Program, offering a fun and accessible facility for young cyclists (Council continues to seek funding for a pump track at an alternate site aimed at older riders).
The Buttenshaw Small Pump Track project, funded through the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grant, is expected to be complete by the end of April 2025, weather permitting.
It is important to note that while work is undertaken, the pump track area will be a designated construction site, and the public cannot access this area until all works are complete (the rest of the park will still be free to use).
Once construction is complete, the community will be invited to celebrate the opening of the track at a Community Open Day, details of which will be shared closer to the date.
Consultation has closed for the design phase of the project, and the community is now invited to share ideas about the Community Open Day at the survey below until 20 December.
What is a Pump Track?
A pump track is a purpose-built, smooth-surfaced bike circuit designed for cyclists to gain momentum through a pumping motion—moving up and down on rollers (bumps) and berms (banked corners) rather than pedalling. Pump tracks are popular for mountain bikers, BMX riders, and even scooter riders. They help riders improve balance, coordination, and bike handling skills while having fun. The Buttenshaw Park track is designed specifically for younger riders, providing a safe and exciting environment for all skill levels.
