Wentworth Street and Govetts Leap Road intersection construction works
11 March 2024
Construction of the Wentworth Street and Govetts Leap Road intersection upgrade works will start on Monday, 18 March 2024.
The intersection improvements include important safety, accessibility and streetscape upgrades, including three raised pedestrian crossings, ramps and sympathetic natural and built landscaping.
Council will continue to liaise with our contractor on the measures to minimise foreseen impacts during construction, however during the intersection works the following is anticipated:
- Temporary traffic and pedestrian controls will be in place, including fencing for public safety.
- Current pedestrian ramps will be impacted. However, temporary access ramps will be provided at road crossing points and Pedestrian detours may be required around the work areas..
- Community facilities located on the ‘Post Office Corner’ will be unavailable.
- At times, the intersection will be fully closed to vehicle traffic and detours will be in place.
- Where night works are planned they will generally commence at 6pm and will be completed within a few hours.
- Some parking spaces around the intersection will be unavailable at varying times during construction.
Council is currently working with the contractor who is delivering the upgrades to finalise a detailed program of works which will guide the construction process. Further detail about this program will be shared once it is confirmed.
We apologise for any inconvenience or disturbance while these improvements are constructed.
