Start of the upgrade work

Construction of the liveability, safety and accessibility upgrades in Blackheath Village Centre has commenced and is expected to be completed in December 2023.
What work will be taking place?
The work is being delivered in several stages at different locations within the village centre. Please find below a summary of the upcoming construction works:
- Upgrades to the facilities and landscaping of the Great Western Highway road reserve. This is the area adjacent to Neate Park that runs along the highway to the Rotary Clock Corner (the southwest corner of the Great Western Highway and Bundarra Street intersection).
- Renewal of the Sutton Lane Car Park (South side of Sutton Lane).
- A new pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Sutton Lane and Wentworth Street.
- Formalisation of on-street parking along Station Street, between the station commuter carpark and the intersection of Bundarra Street and Station Street.
- Footpath renewal and on-street parking upgrade on Gardiner Crescent at the frontage of the Blackheath Community Neighbourhood Centre.
- Renewal of the footpath along Wentworth Street.

Construction works will take place between 7am – 6pm Monday to Friday and 8am – 1pm on Saturdays.
Construction traffic will be managed by Council’s contractors who have been engaged for the upgrade works. Some noise and vibration will occur from the construction works. However, active efforts will be made to eliminate and mitigate noise and vibration where possible.
