Sinclair Crescent temporary pedestrian crossing nightworks
16 December 2024
Installation of a temporary, at grade crossing on Sinclair Crescent (Wentworth Falls) to improve pedestrian safety over the busy summer period will begin Monday, 16 December and is expected to be completed on Thursday, 19th December.
Works will be conducted at night, between 7.30pm and 5.00am (weather permitting). There will be a contraflow in place along Sinclair Crescent during these times to minimise disruption, with traffic management on site while works are taking place.
Crossing work like this is usually done at night to reduce the impact on the community. Construction equipment will also be positioned in the gravel carpark during the work.
Council’s contractor will make active efforts to reduce the impact of sound and vibration while construction is underway. The noisiest part of this will be some limited concrete cutting, which will be scheduled early during the work shift. The work will include:
- Construction of a concrete kerb ramp near the amenities block
- Excavation of postholes
- Installation of speed cushions and signage
- Pedestrian crossing line marking
The temporary pedestrian crossing will link the current gravel carpark on Sinclair Crescent to the southern end of the lake near the amenities building, as shown in the picture overleaf. The crossing is temporary and will be upgraded as part of the wider carpark upgrade works anticipated to start in mid-January 2025.
