Background Paper - Progress Made and Issues for the City in 2013

The Council has prepared a Progress and Issues Background Paper to inform community engagement on the update of the Blue Mountains Community Strategic Plan – Sustainable Blue Mountains 2025.

All councils in NSW are required to have a ten-year Community Strategic Plan. The Council developed the plan locally with input from the community and other government agencies. The plan will identify the goals and objectives for the Blue Mountains local government area. Implementation of the plan involves not only the Council, but also other government and non-government agencies, community organisations and residents. In developing the plan, the Council must:

  1. Address civic leadership, social, environmental and economic issues in an integrated manner
  2. Apply social justice planning principles of equity, access, participation and rights
  3. Have regard to the State Government’s State Plan and other relevant State and regional plans of the State Government
