Night works 28 April 2025
Treeline Lurline project nightworks
Updated 22 April 2025
To restore and improve the road surface of Lurline Street, asphalt works will take place on the night of Monday 28 April 2025 (weather permitting), between Waratah Street and Merriwa Street.
The work is scheduled to start at 8pm and is anticipated to be completed by 6am on the morning of Tuesday 29 April 2025, but may be completed earlier.
If the weather does not allow work to proceed, a new date will be coordinated and communicated to you and the wider community.
How will this work affect you?
Street closure and traffic diversions: Lurline Street, between Waratah Street and Merriwa Street, will be closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic from 8pm on Monday 28 April 2025.
Traffic diversions will be in place. Patrons and staff exiting the Katoomba RSL carpark between 8pm and 10.30pm will be escorted through the work site by the work contractor.
Vehicle and pedestrian access for residents will be coordinated by the contractor during the work period.
On-street parking: On-street parking along Lurline Street, between Waratah Street and Merriwa Street, will be unavailable from 8am on Monday 28 April 2025, to ensure the street is clear of parked vehicles for the night work to take place.
Noise: There will be some noise associated with this work. The noise is difficult to mitigate, as the current asphalt surface needs to be milled (a process that removes the top layer of asphalt pavement to prepare it for resurfacing).
The milling work will start at 8pm and is anticipated to take up to three hours. This will be the most disruptive stage of the work.
After milling the asphalt, re-sheeting the street with a new layer of asphalt will then commence. Noise from the re-sheeting activity will generate a lower-level noise with the movement and use of asphalting machinery.
Why is the work taking place at night?
The work is taking place at night to reduce the impact for the wider community. Closing the street for one night allows the work to be completed as quickly and safely as possible.
What’s next?
New line marking will be placed approximately two weeks after the asphalting work is completed.
Additionally, the following work will also be undertaken in the next few weeks:
Installation of sandstone bench seating at the bus stops and in front of Cassiopeia. These are currently being fabricated.
Installation of stone wheel stops in the vehicle parking bays. These are currently under procurement.
Complete etch engraving on top of the roadside kerb.
The project is scheduled for completion in mid-May (weather permitting).
Thank you for your patience and understanding as this work takes place.

Thank you for your contribution!
