Community Consultation on the Options Paper - Strategic Tourism and Recreational Planning Study closed Wednesday 16 September 2015. Submissions received are being assessed and a Council Report on the outcomes of the consultation process will be prepared.
Blue Mountains City Council commissioned the Strategic Tourism and Recreational Planning Study (also known as the Stafford Report) in the lead up to the preparation of the Draft Local Environmental Plan (DLEP 2013) and formed part of the background documentation for DLEP during public exhibition in 2013. While a number of the Report’s recommendations were incorporated into DLEP 2013, it was resolved that recommendations relating to specific sites would be reviewed at a later date.

A review of the 15 sites discussed in the Stafford Report has been conducted and Council has now finalised an Options Paper considering the development possibilities for each of the sites as suggested by the Stafford Report. The Options Paper also considers the introduction of a new SP3-Tourist zone (Special Purpose Tourist zone) for a select number of these sites. Only those sites marked with (SP3) are being considered for rezoning to SP3-Tourist zone.
