Background:
These policies support the implementation of the Code of Conduct which sets the standards of behaviour for all council officials. The model Code of Conduct will be tabled to the Council unchanged and for re-adoption in July 2025. Both the Conflict of Interest and Declarations Policyand the Gifts and Benefits Policywere developed in the context of Council’s requirements, and in reference to guides and reports prepared by agencies such as the ICAC and Audit Office NSW. The policies provide direction to staff on how to identify, declare, and manage conflicts of interest and gifts/benefits at BMCC. These policies are supported by a suite of template forms for staff use in making a declaration which will be available on the intranet.
