Council has a responsibility to ensure the responsible use of public monies, including the recovery of salary overpayments to employees. From time to time, errors may occur which result in salary overpayments to employees. This can be in relation to hours worked, shift penalties payable or allowances payable, as well as other reasons. Salary overpayments are rarely the fault of employees, however both Council and employees have a responsibility to recognise and correct errors which have resulted in salary overpayments. Council will notify and work with impacted employees to have salary overpayments repaid.
