Notice of review of land category mapping of selected sites of Council Community Land - Public Hearing
In accordance with s40A of the Local Government Act 1993, public notice is hereby given that independently chaired public hearings were conducted regarding the proposed categorisation of selected sites of Council community land in the Blue Mountains.
BMCC manages the sites under review as ‘Council Community land’ under the Local Government Act 1993 (LG Act).
The sites have been classified as ‘council community land’ and categorised according to its current and intended use. Categories are described and mapped according to the LG Act http://www5.austlii.edu.au/au/legis/nsw/consol_act/lga1993182/s36.html Categories are: sportsground, park, general community use, cultural significance or natural area (with sub-category of bushland, escarpment, watercourse or wetland). Current Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping directly informed Council’s categorisation process. Cultural Significance has been applied to sites listed as having local or state heritage listings in the LEP 2015.
Crown land categories and mapping have already been approved by Crown and do not require a Public Hearing. The following hearing will review Council Community land sites that have had a change in land categorisation or new mapping for multiple categories.
The second and final Public Hearing was held on Wednesday 17 August between 6:00pm - 7.30pm for selected Council Community land sites that feature the Park and Natural Area land categories.
Following this hearing, a report will be provided by the chair for inspection on this Have Your Say page or at the front desk at Councils HQ in Katoomba. The Public Hearing Report will then be submitted together with the final drafts of Plans of Managements for Council consideration and adoption. To view the report from the first hearing, go to the Document library on this page.
