The Blue Mountains Active Transport Links Program aims to improve our streets for everyone, with safe and sustainable links between key destinations and towns across the Blue Mountains.
About this project
Council has secured NSW Government funding to deliver a new pathway between the Great Western Highway and Lincolns Rock Reserve at Wentworth Falls. The pathway was identified in the Lincolns Rock Locality Plan, adopted in May 2026, which sets out a managed, low-visitation approach for the site.
The design process will consider road conditions, drainage, vegetation, driveways, cultural heritage, environmental values and the needs of nearby residents, with community feedback helping inform the proposed alignment before detailed design.
Subject to consultation outcomes, approvals and site conditions, delivery of the pathway is planned byJune 2027.
Council adopted the Lincolns Rock Locality Plan in response to increasing public safety, environmental, traffic and residential amenity impacts associated with growing visitation.
Council also resolved to extend the temporary closure of the site until 30 November 2026 to allow implementation of priority actions under the plan, including this active transport link and additionaltraffic management and safety measures in the precinct.
