Blue Mountains Mandatory Independent Hearing and Assessment Panel (IHAP)
Thank you for your interest. This project is now closed.
Blue Mountains City Council is seeking expressions of interest from local community representatives to join the Blue Mountains Mandatory Independent Hearing and Assessment Panel (IHAP).
IHAPs are now mandatory for all councils in Sydney. The primary function of the IHAP is to determine development applications that meet thresholds as determined by the NSW Government. Other functions include providing advice to Council on planning proposals and other planning or development matters referred to the panel.
One community representative from each ward will join three (3) other appointed professional members on the panel. All appointed community representatives are entitled to attend IHAP meetings, but only one will be nominated by the Panel Chair at each meeting and will be able to vote and be heard on matters before the panel.
Your role as an IHAP member is a part-time role starting in March 2018. It is expected meetings will be held on a monthly basis and, if nominated as the community representative for that meeting, you will be expected to contribute constructively to panel discussions. Membership of the panel is for up to three years. The position will be paid in accordance with rates to be set by the NSW Government.
Mayors, councillors, property developers and real estate agents are not eligible to apply.
Expressions of interest must be made by completing and submitting the nomination form below.
Submissions must be received by close of business Friday 29 November 2017.
