Blue Mountains City Council is seeking feedback from staff on the Motor Vehicle Management Policy updates.

Council will manage its motor vehicle fleet consistently and equitably in accordance with this policy to achieve its objectives and its long-term visions. Wherever practicable, Council will purchase light vehicles with superior emissions standards, fuel consumption and safety ratings to minimise the fleet’s environmental impact and maximise occupant safety.

In doing so, Council will:

• ensure its light vehicle fleet is managed in an efficient and economical manner;

• provide fit-for-purpose light vehicles through continual evaluation of Council’s operational requirements, innovations in the automotive industry, proactive and reactive maintenance and inspection programs, and relevant vehicle emission targets;

• address sustainability issues associated with maintaining a motor vehicle fleet, including vehicle types, vehicle motive power and the number of vehicles;

• ensure the appropriate allocation of motor vehicles across the organisation;

• provide employees with a valuable benefit while operating a fair and equitable cost- recovery method regarding the private use of fleet vehicles; and

• remain competitive in attracting and retaining suitable and appropriately skilled employees by providing vehicles as required to enable employees to efficiently and effectively perform their roles.
