About the Motor Vehicle Management Policy

Council’s light vehicle fleet is retained to support the provision of services to the community and to achieve Council’s corporate and business plan objectives. It must be used ethically, effectively and efficiently in performing official duties. The fleet comprises passenger vehicles and commercial utility vehicles.

Fleet Services manages light vehicles under two main broad categories:

  • A fleet of dedicated pool vehicles is available for employee use based at Katoomba headquarters, South Street depot and Springwood depot. These vehicles are available for all employees with the appropriate driver’s licence to use during work hours for business purposes.
  • Employees holding positions which have a light vehicle assigned to them may enter into a vehicle use agreement (VUA): an agreement allowing private use of a vehicle outside of work hours It is anticipated that this policy will be endorsed by the Policy Control Group and then adopted by ELT and then placed on the Staff Intranet.
