Blue Mountains City Council is seeking your feedback on the design and Review of Environmental Factors (REF) for the Echo Point Visitors Centre until Wednesday 7 February 2018.
In early 2016, Council staff embarked on a process to upgrade Echo Point Visitors Centre including interpretation of the culture of Traditional Owners. The design and Review of Environmental Factors have now been completed and Council is now seeking community feedback on the proposal. Any comments received from the community will be considered in the final design of the project.
This proposed upgrade is being undertaken in accordance with State Environmental Planning Policy (Infrastructure) which allows for the proposal to occur without the need for development consent. Assessment of the environmental impacts of the proposal will occur under Part 5 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.
Key Features of the Proposal
Construct a new Visitor Information Centre including information display, learning areas, a multi-purpose centre, souvenir sales and administration areas. Note that Stage 1 is intended to be constructed over 2018, the multi-purpose space is Stage 2 of this development and is not funded to date.
Demolition of the existing centre.
Construction of a new gathering space.
Upgrading of the Prince Henry Cliff Walk and Prince of Wales Lookout so that they can be reopened. ( Note that this work is intended to be undertaken in the 2018 / 2019 financial year).
