The draft Illegal Dumping Strategy 2020-2025 sets out the vision, targets and actions to reduce illegal dumping activity across the City.

The vision for illegal dumping in Blue Mountains City Council is to “Reduce the frequency and scale of illegal dumping and minimise its social, environmental and economic impacts through education, enforcement, deterrence and clean- up activities.”

The Strategy recognises the current actions Council undertakes to tackle illegal dumping and has four specific objectives, covering a wide variety of activities, to provide a clear direction for addressing illegal dumping over the coming years. These are:

  1. Community education and awareness;
  2. Prevention, infrastructure and clean-up;
  3. Regulation and enforcement; and
  4. Data, evaluation and monitoring.
