Consultation has concluded
The Strategy outlines how and when we will engage with our Community on Council plans, policies, programs and key activities.
While community engagement does not replace the decision-making powers of elected Councillors or the Chief Executive Officer, it does enhance the capacity of councils to make well-informed, sustainable decisions that clearly demonstrate community support.
The Community Engagement Strategy must identify relevant stakeholder groups within the community and when, how and why each group will be able to provide input into the Council’s long-term planning and decision making.
This Community Engagement Strategy sets out the guiding principles and approach for ensuring our community has an opportunity to have their say in a meaningful way. It outlines how Council will engage with the community to support the development of all Council plans, policies, programs and key activities.
Community engagement is a key part of the Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework, which sets out the priorities for our City, and guides all Council activities.
Under the Local Government Act 1993, Council is required to establish and implement a community engagement strategy for engagement with the local community when developing its plans, policies and programs.

Thank you to those who contributed feedback. These responses will be reviewed and a report will go to the Council as soon as possible.
