The Bushcare Manual
is a guide for Blue Mountains City Council Bushcare and Landcare volunteers and
staff. It sets out the processes and standards to be followed so that there is
consistency in service delivery and clarity for participants new to the
program.
It defines Council and volunteer rights and responsibilities,
and outlines relevant Council procedures governing the Bushcare program.
The manual will replace the current Bushcare Procedures
Manual, which was last reviewed in 2008.

In 2013 Council
conducted a review of all community conservation programs, including Bushcare
and Landcare, to ensure that resources invested in these programs continue to
be well directed, are responsive to community needs, and provide value for
money. After extensive community consultation the Community Conservation
Program (CCP) Plan 2014 was adopted by Council in November 2014.
Some changes to the
delivery of the Bushcare program were foreshadowed in the CCP 2014.
Some Council
processes and procedures regarding volunteer organisation and work health and
safety have also been recently updated.
This procedures
manual provides direction on the delivery of the Bushcare program to comply
with the CCP 2014 and to implement Council’s ongoing commitment to good
governance, EEO and a safe workplace.
