Venessa Possum: Gulumun

"As a Dharug-Muringong artist living in the Blue Mountains, I acknowledge Ngurra – Country, my ancestors and the interconnected paths and footprints that guide my artistic practices. As I transitioned into grandmotherhood, I embarked on a profound path uncovering living gulumun practices from long ago. My exhibition shares an emerging gulumun archive, a vessel presence, carried on a path of experiential being, ever mindful and open to Ngurra, teacher everywhere."

Free event. All welcome.RSVP's appreciated via culturalcentre@bmcc.nsw.gov.au

Cunning Revived

Cultural Centre curator Hayley Zena Poynton will open an exhibition at the end of November called Cunning Revived, which is all about magical and mystical processes, and the tradition of ritual in art and life. Poynton said “Curatorially I am strongly influenced by the natural world and the human expression of storytelling, primarily folklore and revisionist histories. My intention is to generate meaningful experiences between the artist, artwork and audience.” Featuring local artists Daisy Beattie and Yvette Hamilton, plus Tamara Elkins, Gianna Hayes, Emily Hunt, Adriana Māhanga Lear, Hayley Millar Baker, Katy B Plummer and Justine Youssef.
