Carbon for Country Funding

Expressions of interest are now open for NSW Aboriginal organisations seeking to own and manage their own carbon project. Carbon projects are a great way to restore Country, bringing back totemic species, medicinal plants and bush tucker. You can also receive income by selling carbon credits generated by your project.

Successful applicants will receive help to:

  • plan and design their project, including access to legal, financial and technical support
  • register their carbon project as an Environmental Plantings project under the Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) scheme.

Once the carbon project is registered, partners can apply for funding for up to 90% of project implementation costs, up to a maximum of $250,000 per project.

Expressions of interest are now open and close 11:59pm AEST Thursday 24 October 2024.

To find out more or to submit an expression of interest visit the website or email netzero.land@environment.nsw.gov.au

This funding is part of our $2.5 million investment to support NSW Aboriginal organisations to set up mixed species tree planting projects that earn carbon credits and restore Country
