Blue Mountains City Council is undertaking a feasibility study in relation to establishing a circular economy hub at the Katoomba Resource Recovery and Waste Management Facility (RRWMF).

The circular economy aims to keep products, equipment, and infrastructure in use for longer. This improves the value and productivity of resources for businesses and can reduce costs in both the acquisition of goods/resources and the disposal of wastes. A circular economy hub could offer a range of activities including increased material recovery, reprocessing, resale and repair opportunities for businesses.

Blue Mountains City Council wants to work together with businesses to help to achieve a local circular economy.

The EPA will soon be introducing a mandate for businesses to better manage their waste.
